Facility Overview

 

We are located at 2025 Courtneypark Drive East, Mississauga. When you arrive, proceed up the driveway and find a spot in the parking lot. Upon entering the building, feel free to have a seat in the cafeteria and we will meet there. Bathroom facilities are located near the elevator. 

 

 

 

Course Overview

 

This ten-day course enhances the student’s knowledge and prepares them for incidents involving airports and aircraft. Students will begin their studies by covering the following topics: airport familiarization, communications, pre-emergency planning and aircraft familiarization. Furthering their studies, students will be led through fire behaviour specific to airports and aircraft, characteristics of aviation fuels, strategy and tactics, rescue and post-incident operations. To complete the theoretical portion of this course, students will learn about ARFF vehicles and their use; topics include extinguishing agents, use of foam equipment and application methods, flow rates and reach of streams, water and extinguishing agent supply and replenishing apparatus. This program reviews equipment available to responders and teaches techniques and procedures for safe operations.

 

 

Course Details

 

This course will start at 8 am, and the daily hours will be 8 am to 4 pm. 
We will have approximately five days of theory and five days of practical skills development. We will generally have one hour for lunch break, and we have refrigerators and microwaves available. There is also a wide variety of restaurants available near FESTI. During the lectures, you
may indulge in water, coffee and snacks within the class. We have a water fountain and encourage you to bring a water bottle. Coffee is not provided during this course.
Feel free to wear business casual to class and comfortable clothes for practical evolutions as we will be working in structural firefighters protective clothing. Changerooms and shower facilities are available.

 

 

Required gear

 

For the theoretical portion, please bring personal stationary items to make notes and study aids. For the practical portion, please dress according to the weather as we will be outside. Please bring your own personal safety glasses and safety footwear.
